I Just Can’t Help Myself

Hello πŸ™‚

To steal a line from one of my favourite films ‘You’ve Got Mail’, ‘I just can’t seem to help myself ‘when it comes to cross stitching and craft shops. xD A couple of weekends ago I went to the Isle of Wight for a family party and while I was there of course we ended up in a craft shop called TAJ Crafts. If you are every in that part of the world I would suggest going as its such a sweet little shop bursting with wool, thread and material for all your crafting needs and the two women who own the shop are very friendly and helpful.

Anyway while I was in this shop I of course noticed the cross stitch section and of course I bought some kits that caught my eye. Yes I know I know I have a long list that I’m not making any smaller but when you see them you will agree with me that I had to buy them. πŸ™‚ With it being Halloween I of course had to buy the ghost πŸ‘» and I just couldn’t get over how small the tiddlers one is! πŸ¦‹

IMG_8081

The Christmas ones I didn’t buy, my mum very kindly bought them for me. πŸ™‚ She said she went to hobbycraft and bought me a couple of small presents, which was a very nice surprise. 🐧 Better make a start on them as Christmas is fast approaching! πŸŽ„

I have also finished the third and final Kokeshi doll! I still think my favourite is the second one I stitched as it has different colours, the blue and pink one are pretty but they’re just different shades of one colour. Now I just need to decide on who to give them to that is if I can bare to part with them. xD

Can you bare to part with your creations? Even though I buy and make them with the intention of giving them away as presents, when I finish them I am a little sad to see them go. xD But then again when I see the recipient’s face light up on receiving the present, it makes it all worthwhile. πŸ™‚

Just A Little Something About The Weather

Hello 😊

Brrr it’s getting cold! πŸŒ¬β„οΈ I don’t know about you guys but I have a love hate relationship with autumn πŸ‚ and winter ❄️. I hate being cold, I can’t stand it! It takes me forever to warm up and I need like 100 layers just for it to be bearable. πŸ˜‚ Whereas the boyfriend loves the cold and wears shorts in December (mad man)! Which means we do have a constant fight over the heating or he opens a window when it’s like -5 outside.

download

However, like I said there are reasons why I love this time of year despite me complaining it’s too cold. Hot chocolate is number one of course! Who doesn’t love being all cosy and warm by a fire (if you’re lucky enough to have one), under a blanket, in your favourite PJs, with a hot chocolate? I just love that feeling of being cosy and warm while its cold and horrible outside. As well as being cosy and warm I have more time to craft and cross stitch to my heart’s content because who wants to be outside when its cold and horrible when you can be in the warm and doing the hobbies you love?!

I also love the holidays that are coming up, Halloween, Bonfire night and Christmas! I love seeing it all in the shops (although selling Christmas cake in October is a little early for me), getting all excited and hyped up the closer and closer the day gets, carving pumpkins, setting off fire works and eating as much chocolate that Santa brought you as you can. xD

I’m probably one of the few people who like Christmas present shopping, I know my mum isn’t very keen on it. xD It can be difficult working out what to get everyone (while trying to remember what you got them last year) and it can be expensive but I just love seeing the millions of shopping bags in the back of my car after a shopping trip and then unpacking them into a tidy pile in the spare room ready to be wrapped and given away. I really enjoy as well wrapping the presents for some reason, not sure why, I think its because I get excited for the person the present is for.Β I can’t wait to see the look on people’s faces when they open their presents (although in the back of my mind I’m praying they like it).

So I know this is a bit of a random post but for some reason I felt like sharing my thoughts on the approaching winter months. I would love to hear what you guys think about this time of year, is it too cold for you? Or can you not wait for December when its really cold? xD

Found My Mojo In Rome

Good afternoon πŸ™‚

You may or may not have noticed but I have blogged for a while (not at all this month) πŸ™Š I kind of lost my mojo, wasn’t happy with showing you guys and I didn’t feel like blogging – Moving offices at work didn’t help with that. πŸ˜‚

However, last weekend it was my birthday πŸŽ‰ and my family and I went to Rome for it. 😊 I have never been to Italy before and it was such a beautiful place but I didn’t realise how much it would help me get my mojo back. I think because I was away from the stresses of every day life and relaxing on holiday I felt happier in myself and found myself missing my crafts.

So yes I’ve found my mojo back! πŸŽ‰ I’ve almost finished the third doll, just need to finish off the hair and then it’s time to backstitch! I’ve also made a start in another freebie I got from a magazine, this one is going to be a cute little fairy.

IMG_7946 As you can see for my birthday I got some cross stitch goodies! I think the lion 🦁 cub cross stitch kit is so cute, I can’t wait to make a start on him. My sister very kindly got me the cross stitch book and I think it’s great! I think it’s so funny and clever, I’m gunna have so much fun stitching the projects in it. πŸ˜‚

IMG_7944 I hope you’re all having a good week despite it getting colder and wet!

P.s. If you ever get the chance to go to Rome, do! It’s amazing!

Cards Galore

Good Morning πŸ™‚

How are you all? I wish the weather would make up its mind though, one minute its cloudy and grey and the next its warm and sunny. xD

So due to moving house I decided to write to all my family members informing them of our new address. πŸ™‚ I was going to do it in a letter format but when I actually wrote the letter it was so short it looked silly to send it, so my boyfriend suggested I buy some blank cards instead and write in those. Quick trip to Tescos on my lunch break and I found a pack of 10 blank coloured cards and envelopes which would do the job nicely. πŸ™‚ Once I had written in them I thought the front of the cards looked a bit boring so using the left over letter stickers I had for my Dad’s Father’s Day card, I decided to decorate them with some ‘moving phrases’.

Although the phrases are quite simple, I think they look rather good and sometimes simple is all you need for a great affect. πŸ˜€

This week I also finished off the second dolls and have already made a start on the third and final one! Just need to make the finished one into a card and then it can sit in my card stash waiting to be given away. πŸ™‚

Hope you all have a good bank holiday weekend! I would love to hear if you have any project plans for that extra day. I myself is hoping to have a full crafting day on the Monday! πŸ™‚

No Time For Stitching

Good morning πŸ™‚

How are you all? Its been a busy last week or so as I have just moved and I’m still trying to work out where to put everything!

Due to moving I haven’t had any time for my projects sadly, so the below photos are from last week just before I packed it all away. However, now that everything is out of boxes I can hopefully get back into my projects again. I’ve finished all the stitching for this doll so now its just the back stitching and the French knots. πŸ™‚

I have also been meaning for ages to blog about a little present my nan gave me weeks ago. I went to go visit my grandparents while on a visit home and my nan very kindly offered me a load of cross stitching books that she had and was thinking of giving them away to charity.IMG_6886Much to the dismay of my boyfriend I decided I wanted to keep pretty much all of them. xD They are just full of great ideas and quick gift ideas if I ever get suck on ideas on what to do. Now my project list is even longer! What’s also great about the Book of Creative Crafts is that is has a section on soap and candle making which will be great for those hobbies as well!

I’ve now got to find a spot for them in our new house, which the boyfriend will no doubt complain about but at least they won’t be in boxes anymore. πŸ™‚

Mystery Blogger Award

Good Evening! πŸ™‚

Can you believe it is now August! This year is going so quickly!

Anyway last thursday I had a nice surprise to find that I had been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award! Totally wasn’t expecting it and it was a nice surprise after coming home from a long day at work.

Rules:Β Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog, tell your readers three things about yourself, nominate people, notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs, ask your nominees five questions of your choice and share a link or links to your favourite posts.

So thank you toΒ JessicaΒ for the nomination! She runs a great blog, you should totally check it out! Its about her crafting projects as well as books she likes reading along with some personnel posts, it really is great to read through. πŸ™‚

mystery_blogger_award

Three things about me:

  1. I feel I’m an old women in a young women’s body sometimes when I would rather be in bed watching the Great British Bake Off than go out. xD
  2. Although I am not very good with pain I have two tattoos, one on each foot and I would like to get more.
  3. I tried to teach myself Spanish for a university trip but all I can remember is to ask where the bathroom is, which in my opinion is quite a good thing to remember. xD

If you had to pick one β€˜pump up’ song to get you ready to do something what would you pick?

  • I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, not sure if it counts as a ‘pump up’ song but it gets me moving and dancing about which seems to help with tasks around the flat. πŸ™‚

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

  • This is a bit of a tough one as I really wanna travel everywhere at the moment! But it would probably be California as thats where my Aunt and Uncle live and I don’t get to see them that often. Plus there’s the beach and Disneyland! Who doesn’t love Disney?!

Paperback, hardback, ebook, or audio book?

  • I would chose a real book over an ebook or audio book as I prefer the feel of a real book in my hands. I love the smell of a new book and that fact you can’t seem to turn the page quick enough to find out what’s going to happen. πŸ™‚ I like both paperback and hardback but I would probably go with paperback as I find them easier to hold. πŸ™‚

What’s your favourite dessert?

  • This one is a tough one as I love anything to do with food especially dessert! xD I would have to say my favourite dessert at the moment is anything to do with Red Velvet such as cake, cheesecake, cookies. xD I had once Red Velvet pancakes in Las Vegas which were pretty good!

Favourite quote/saying?

  • My favourite quote is by William Shakespeare and it goes ‘When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew’. I know this will sound weird but I’m not too sure why I like it so much, I just do. I guess I’m a romantic at heart and it reminds of me romantic films/books. πŸ™‚

My Nominees:

LucyAnnLuna

WickedStitcher

CountryCrossStitchersMusings

CreativeWriter234

RabbitGirlCrafts

So my questions:

  1. What is your favourite type of music?
  2. Why did you start blogging?
  3. If you could be in any TV show or film what would it be and why?
  4. Where’s the most exciting place you visited?
  5. Whats your spirt animal?

Thank you again to Jessica for the nomination, was really a nice surprise, I hope you enjoy my answers to the questions. Can’t wait to see your replies to my questions, please feel free to take part in the comments or in your own post. πŸ™‚

One Down, Two To Go – Kokeshi Dolls

Good Morning πŸ™‚

How are you all? Still raining here but I remember to bring my coat this time. xD

Last night I finished the first out of three Kokeshi dolls and mounted her onto the card. Don’t think she looks too bad, the French knots were a little bit of a pain but apart from those she looks good. πŸ™‚ Managed to finish her on time as I’m planning on giving the card away next week, I’m hoping the recipient likes it. πŸ™‚

Although I finished one Kokeshi doll, I couldn’t stop there last night, I decided to make a start on the second one. Her body is almost complete, just need a to add a little bit more under the coral band and then of course she needs a head. xD I think this one might be my favourite although I haven’t stitched the third one yet so we shall see. πŸ™‚Β I’ve taken a little break from my secret project to work on the card but I shall pick it up again tonight. πŸ™‚

How are your projects going? Well I hope, let me know! πŸ™‚

A Nice Surprise

Good Afternoon πŸ™‚

I hope you all had a good weekend and that it didn’t rain too much, of course it started to rain when I didn’t think to bring a coat with me. xD I do hope the sun β˜€οΈ comes back though as I bought some new sunglasses over the weekend and I need to test them out. πŸ˜‚

When I got into work I had a lovely surprise waiting for me on my desk, a work colleague of mine found these freebie cross stitch kits and thought I would like them. She said that I was better off having them as they’re just sitting in her house collecting dust, which was very sweet of her. As you know I’ve already stitched the mouse Christmas cards but I’m looking forward to stitching them again as I think they’re super cute! I love the colours of the metallic threads so I can’t wait to give the quick-stitch Christmas cards a go.

IMG_6762

I’m slowly but surely working through the little card cross stitch, I didn’t think it would take me this long but it has! xD She’s almost finished though, she just needs a mouth (very important) and some braids in the form of French Knots coming out of her hair buns. That hopefully shouldn’t take me too long to do and then she can be mounted to the card and given away. πŸ™‚

I know it’s only Monday but I hope you all have a good rest of the week whatever you’re doing, whether it’s working, looking after little ones or frantically trying to finish off projects (like me) before their deadlines.

A Little Something

Good Evening πŸ™‚

Thank goodness its the weekend, it has been such a busy week here that I haven’t had much time for crafting but I’ve manage a little something.

I’ve made a start on one of the Kokeshi doll cards, she doesn’t look like much now but she’s only small so it shouldn’t take me too long to complete. πŸ™‚ I’veΒ also posted a little teaser image of the surprise cross stitching project I’m making at the moment. Shhhh if you know what the project is as I still want it to be a little surprise for you guys as well as the recipient of the gift. πŸ™‚ But its coming along nicely and should hopefully be finished soon. πŸ™‚

I have also chosen the wool I’m going to use to make the cushion cover, I love the rainbow affect it has but its not too much in your face as it has the black background. Need to have a little practice with it first though before I make a start on the cushion cover but I can’t wait to get started. πŸ™‚

I’m hoping to get quite a lot done project wise as I seem to have quite a few busy weekends coming up in the next month or so. I suppose I could always take my projects with me. xD

Hope you all have a good sunny weekend. πŸ™‚

WIP And What Next?

Good Morning πŸ™‚

Wooo we’re half way through the week! Been a bit quiet on the crafting front due to the fact I finished the rose cross stitch and made it into its card. As I was looking through my crafting box, looking for the next small project to make, I came across some more freebie cross stitch card kits! I had forgotten all about these so it was a nice surprise to find them and it will help break up the secret project I’m working on as its quite a big piece. They should keep me going for the time being, I’ve made a start on the Kokeshi dolls, which roughly take five hours each!

As well as the card kits I also came across my butterfly cross that I had finished ages ago but I wasn’t too sure how to mount/ finish it off. And so to the internet I went to find some inspiration and I came across this blog sewingseed, who had the great idea of framing finished projects in hoops. It took a bit of adjusting to make sure it was centre in the hoop but I don’t think it looks too bad and I will definitely be using this idea a lot more in the future.

I’ve finished one section of my secret project but I still have a long way to go yet so no photos for the time being. It seems to be taking me slight longer than I had hoped to reach this far so I need to up my game if I’m to finish it in time for Christmas! I’m hoping this time next week I will have another section almost finished, I may be cheeky and post a picture of one of the sections to give you a little glimpse of it. But thats a maybe as I don’t want to ruin the surprise, got to keep you guys guessing. πŸ˜‰

IMG_6631I almost finished my first crochet piece, the sides are sewn together, it just needs a button and a little loop to fasten it closed. Sadly though I have run out of wool so I need to go to Hobbycraft and get some more as well as the wool I need to make a start on the cushion cover.

How are all your projects coming along? Managed to finish any and tick them off your list? Or are you like me and feel like the list is never ending? xD
