Cookie Bear Is…

Hello! πŸ™‚

Exciting news! I’ve finally finished stitching Cookie Bear! I know! It’s only taken me two years to complete him but he’s finally finished! I just need to find him a frame but stitching wise he’s done. πŸ™‚ Sunday afternoon was when I did most of the backstitching, in the back garden in the sun.

Now that’s he’s finished it’s on to the next project. I guess that’s the only good thing about buying projects before you’ve finished, you’ve always got something to move onto. πŸ™‚ I bought my boyfriend a cross stitch kit of a Shiba Inu as they are his favourite breed of dog so I will probably work on that next. Guess I should really, seeing that I bought it for his birthday and that was 3 months ago oops.

How are all your projects coming along? I can’t wait to frame Cookie Bear and get on with completing another project!

Thank You!

Good afternoon πŸ™‚

First of all I would like to thank everyone who follows and likes my blog! I have reached 50 followers! Now I know I’m not the best when it comes to posting and updating my blog but it means a lot to me that people still bother to follow my blog. So thank you everyone!

THANK YOU!

This is a fairly big update as I have a lot to talk about. I went home to see my mum a couple of weekends ago and she very kindly gave me a present. Its never too early to start working on Christmas stitching projects! That same weekend I also received a parcel from a uni friend of mine which contained the two project books that I can’t wait to make a start on. I think the soap making book is going to be interesting. πŸ™‚

Not only have I finished my fairy cross stitch but I have also mounted and framed it! Annoyingly as I finished and mounted the fairy I was in the process of changing phones and therefore I don’t have many photos of her. Just one when I had finished the cross stitches and then her in the frame, none in between. Not that really matters but I just like seeing the progress photos of each project that I work on.

I have also just finished cross stitching a cute little elephant, which I shall turn into a birthday or anniversary card. πŸ™‚ Haven’t decided yet but I have loads of thread left over so I can always restitch him. πŸ™‚

In other news last night I picked up and started cross stitching my Birthday Cookie Bear project! I know! I can’t believe it either! Its been almost a year since I last stitched Cookie Bear and I’m super close to finishing the cross stitches. I just need to finish the second present off and then its onto the back stitching. πŸ™‚

I hope you are all having a good week. Hopefully it’ll be nice and sunny for the weekend!

Snowy Cross Stitch Days

Good morning πŸ™‚

Did you all have fun in the snow? I normally like snow if I haven’t got places to be but last week was such bad timing as I did have some very important things planned that had to be moved. But oh well, we can’t control the weather no matter how much we wish we could.

It did mean however that I did spend a few days sat by the fire working on my projects while spending time with my family which was nice. πŸ™‚ I did manage to finish my snow globe cross stitch, fitting I think seeing that it was snowing outside. xD

I’m really happy with the outcome seeing that I had trouble stitching on black Aida but I think it looks good. I also learnt a new stitch, called a Lazy Daisy stitch for the bows on the presents, which was a little fiddly but fun to learn. πŸ™‚ It needs a wash as the white isn’t as crisp as it could be but I think I’m going to keep it and present it in the hoop. The instructions say you can attached it to a card but I think it will look nice hanging up in a window, in the hoop during the winter months. πŸ™‚

As you can see I have also made some progress on my fairy cross stitch. πŸ™‚ Last time she was just a face but now she has a body, parts of her arms and the beginnings of a wing. I don’t think it will take me too long to finish her off. πŸ™‚ Stitching her is getting me into the spring time feelings. πŸ™‚

With the snow globe completed my list of projects is slowly going down and soon I’ll be able to tick of the flower fairy as well. πŸ™‚

How are you all getting on with your projects? Did you manage to complete some while snowed in or did you play in the snow if you got any?

Crafting Helps The Pain

Hello πŸ™‚

So I know it feels like I posted once last month and then disappeared again even though I made a promise to you and myself that I would blog more this year as last year wasn’t very good. The last month has been a bit of a roller coaster ride which led to my life, including blogging, being put on hold. To be honest its not been a very good month for me but I have my projects to take my mind off of things and my life is slowly getting back on track.

I do have some good news in the fact that I have finished (finally) my crochet cushion! I had a quick look to see when I first bought the yarn and it was back in July! So its only taken me seven months to make it but at least I’ve done it. πŸ™‚ Also I bought three balls of the yarn and I have one and a half left! So I think I could make another one and then they would be a matching pair! πŸ™‚

And I have already bought the yarn for my next projects (pause for groan). Its not my fault though, I swear! Hobbycraft were having a 20% off sale for one day so I just had to buy the yarn that day! And I had been given some gift cards for Christmas so of course I had to use those as well.

I can’t wait to make a start on them! I’m going to make a granny square skirtΒ which I think will look amazing with those colours. I’ve never made a granny square so where better to start than to make a whole skirt of them?! I’m also going to make a very nice blanketΒ with the Sugar ‘n’ Cream yarn, I just love how it changes colour throughout the yarn. I don’t make it easy on myself do I? xD

Think I need to make a start on the blanket first seeing that snow has taken over the country. Make sure you all stay warm and safe in this weather. πŸ™‚

Happy New Year Project Updates

Hello! πŸ™‚

I’m probably a bit late to the party but Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a good Christmas and were spoilt rotten with loads of crafting related presents!

I realised over the holidays that I have WAY too many projects on the go and WAY too many projects waiting to be crafted (what else is new right?). I think it’s time that I try and finish a few off my list before I start anymore, they’re sort of taking over the front room and the boyfriend isn’t best pleased. xD

There are a couple of finished projects though! They were only small but at least I finished them so its a start! I’m going to try and finish a project a month I think, that should be doable right? Then again this is me we are talking about! xD

As you can see I’ve finally made a start on my crochet cushion cover using the wool I bought ages ago! I think it looks amazing so far, I love the rainbow affect against the solid black. Not only am I learning a new stitch but I also learnt how to change yarn half way through a crochet project – thanks mum. πŸ™‚ The Christmas tree snow globe I’m going to turn into a Christmas card and I think the ghost I’m going to frame it and add some ribbon to it so I can hang it in the window at Halloween. πŸ™‚

There is still also my secret project that I’m working on, sadly I didn’t finish it in time for Christmas. 😦 But my parents did get me a big square frame for cross stitching so now it’ll be easier to work on my secret project. πŸ™‚ I will have it finished I promise!

I hope you all had a Happy New Year! Did you get an amazing crafting presents? And do you have any project resolutions you plan to stick to or have you broken them already? xD I would love to hear from you all. πŸ™‚

I Just Can’t Help Myself

Hello πŸ™‚

To steal a line from one of my favourite films ‘You’ve Got Mail’, ‘I just can’t seem to help myself ‘when it comes to cross stitching and craft shops. xD A couple of weekends ago I went to the Isle of Wight for a family party and while I was there of course we ended up in a craft shop called TAJ Crafts. If you are every in that part of the world I would suggest going as its such a sweet little shop bursting with wool, thread and material for all your crafting needs and the two women who own the shop are very friendly and helpful.

Anyway while I was in this shop I of course noticed the cross stitch section and of course I bought some kits that caught my eye. Yes I know I know I have a long list that I’m not making any smaller but when you see them you will agree with me that I had to buy them. πŸ™‚ With it being Halloween I of course had to buy the ghost πŸ‘» and I just couldn’t get over how small the tiddlers one is! πŸ¦‹

IMG_8081

The Christmas ones I didn’t buy, my mum very kindly bought them for me. πŸ™‚ She said she went to hobbycraft and bought me a couple of small presents, which was a very nice surprise. 🐧 Better make a start on them as Christmas is fast approaching! πŸŽ„

I have also finished the third and final Kokeshi doll! I still think my favourite is the second one I stitched as it has different colours, the blue and pink one are pretty but they’re just different shades of one colour. Now I just need to decide on who to give them to that is if I can bare to part with them. xD

Can you bare to part with your creations? Even though I buy and make them with the intention of giving them away as presents, when I finish them I am a little sad to see them go. xD But then again when I see the recipient’s face light up on receiving the present, it makes it all worthwhile. πŸ™‚

Just A Little Something About The Weather

Hello 😊

Brrr it’s getting cold! πŸŒ¬β„οΈ I don’t know about you guys but I have a love hate relationship with autumn πŸ‚ and winter ❄️. I hate being cold, I can’t stand it! It takes me forever to warm up and I need like 100 layers just for it to be bearable. πŸ˜‚ Whereas the boyfriend loves the cold and wears shorts in December (mad man)! Which means we do have a constant fight over the heating or he opens a window when it’s like -5 outside.

download

However, like I said there are reasons why I love this time of year despite me complaining it’s too cold. Hot chocolate is number one of course! Who doesn’t love being all cosy and warm by a fire (if you’re lucky enough to have one), under a blanket, in your favourite PJs, with a hot chocolate? I just love that feeling of being cosy and warm while its cold and horrible outside. As well as being cosy and warm I have more time to craft and cross stitch to my heart’s content because who wants to be outside when its cold and horrible when you can be in the warm and doing the hobbies you love?!

I also love the holidays that are coming up, Halloween, Bonfire night and Christmas! I love seeing it all in the shops (although selling Christmas cake in October is a little early for me), getting all excited and hyped up the closer and closer the day gets, carving pumpkins, setting off fire works and eating as much chocolate that Santa brought you as you can. xD

I’m probably one of the few people who like Christmas present shopping, I know my mum isn’t very keen on it. xD It can be difficult working out what to get everyone (while trying to remember what you got them last year) and it can be expensive but I just love seeing the millions of shopping bags in the back of my car after a shopping trip and then unpacking them into a tidy pile in the spare room ready to be wrapped and given away. I really enjoy as well wrapping the presents for some reason, not sure why, I think its because I get excited for the person the present is for.Β I can’t wait to see the look on people’s faces when they open their presents (although in the back of my mind I’m praying they like it).

wrapped-christmas-present

So I know this is a bit of a random post but for some reason I felt like sharing my thoughts on the approaching winter months. I would love to hear what you guys think about this time of year, is it too cold for you? Or can you not wait for December when its really cold? xD

Found My Mojo In Rome

Good afternoon πŸ™‚

You may or may not have noticed but I haven’t blogged for a while (not at all this month) πŸ™Š I kind of lost my mojo, wasn’t happy with showing you guys and I didn’t feel like blogging – Moving offices at work didn’t help with that. πŸ˜‚

However, last weekend it was my birthday πŸŽ‰ and my family and I went to Rome for it. 😊 I have never been to Italy before and it was such a beautiful place but I didn’t realise how much it would help me get my mojo back. I think because I was away from the stresses of every day life and relaxing on holiday I felt happier in myself and found myself missing my crafts.

So yes I’ve found my mojo back! πŸŽ‰ I’ve almost finished the third doll, just need to finish off the hair and then it’s time to backstitch! I’ve also made a start in another freebie I got from a magazine, this one is going to be a cute little fairy.

IMG_7946 As you can see for my birthday I got some cross stitch goodies! I think the lion 🦁 cub cross stitch kit is so cute, I can’t wait to make a start on him. My sister very kindly got me the cross stitch book and I think it’s great! I think it’s so funny and clever, I’m gunna have so much fun stitching the projects in it. πŸ˜‚

IMG_7944 I hope you’re all having a good week despite it getting colder and wet!

P.s. If you ever get the chance to go to Rome, do! It’s amazing!

Cards Galore

Good Morning πŸ™‚

How are you all? I wish the weather would make up its mind though, one minute its cloudy and grey and the next its warm and sunny. xD

So due to moving house I decided to write to all my family members informing them of our new address. πŸ™‚ I was going to do it in a letter format but when I actually wrote the letter it was so short it looked silly to send it, so my boyfriend suggested I buy some blank cards instead and write in those. Quick trip to Tescos on my lunch break and I found a pack of 10 blank coloured cards and envelopes which would do the job nicely. πŸ™‚ Once I had written in them I thought the front of the cards looked a bit boring so using the left over letter stickers I had for my Dad’s Father’s Day card, I decided to decorate them with some ‘moving phrases’.

Although the phrases are quite simple, I think they look rather good and sometimes simple is all you need for a great affect. πŸ˜€

This week I also finished off the second dolls and have already made a start on the third and final one! Just need to make the finished one into a card and then it can sit in my card stash waiting to be given away. πŸ™‚

Hope you all have a good bank holiday weekend! I would love to hear if you have any project plans for that extra day. I myself is hoping to have a full crafting day on the Monday! πŸ™‚

No Time For Stitching

Good morning πŸ™‚

How are you all? Its been a busy last week or so as I have just moved and I’m still trying to work out where to put everything!

Due to moving I haven’t had any time for my projects sadly, so the below photos are from last week just before I packed it all away. However, now that everything is out of boxes I can hopefully get back into my projects again. I’ve finished all the stitching for this doll so now its just the back stitching and the French knots. πŸ™‚

I have also been meaning for ages to blog about a little present my nan gave me weeks ago. I went to go visit my grandparents while on a visit home and my nan very kindly offered me a load of cross stitching books that she had and was thinking of giving them away to charity.IMG_6886Much to the dismay of my boyfriend I decided I wanted to keep pretty much all of them. xD They are just full of great ideas and quick gift ideas if I ever get suck on ideas on what to do. Now my project list is even longer! What’s also great about the Book of Creative Crafts is that is has a section on soap and candle making which will be great for those hobbies as well!

I’ve now got to find a spot for them in our new house, which the boyfriend will no doubt complain about but at least they won’t be in boxes anymore. πŸ™‚
